Reiki was never intended to be a healing modality, it was a way to reach enlightenment, when it was discovered that after connecting with this energy, that it was starting to flow from the hands and had a healing quality over time someone saw a way to profit from this and started teaching it as a healing modality, totally dismissing the true nature of this practice. And it became known that you could only attain this from a master. through years of training.
In truth you don't need a master or anyone to teach you this, all you need to do is open your heart and mind to the energy and welcome it into you, let the universe know you are ready to receive and let it flow through you transforming you. It is part of who you are.
